Equal Pay Analysis · EU Directive 2023/970
Equal Pay analysis and pay transparency preparation

The EU Pay Transparency Directive will prompt many employers to evaluate their pay structures for the first time. Organisations that cannot clearly explain the criteria used to determine pay and evaluate jobs will not be able to meet the new regulatory requirements. A pay equity analysis helps identify potential inequalities, address discrepancies on time, and prepare the organisation for the obligations set out in the Directive.

What does an equal pay analysis reveal?

An equal pay analysis provides a clear picture of the current state of pay within an organisation, helps identify potential risks and flag areas that require closer examination. The analysis is built around two key indicators:

Unadjusted gender pay gap
The difference in average pay between women and men, without accounting for factors such as role, experience or level of education.
Adjusted gender pay gap
The difference that remains once all objective factors have been controlled for. Once proven, the adjusted gender pay gap is the only true measure of whether genuine pay inequality exists for equal work.
